Have you read my older post about "The People's Supermarket" ??
At last, today I visited there for the first time!

以前のポストで紹介したPeople's Supermarketに、今日やっと足を運ぶことができました。
It is run by volunteers and they sell vegetables and fruits produced by "English" farmers
to support them rather than importing cheaper products from overseas.
Reducing shipping is also good for environment.

ボランティアによって運営されるこのスーパー。
イギリス国内の農家から仕入れた野菜やフルーツが並びます。
大手スーパーから買いたたかれる農家をサポートするだけでなく、
輸送エネルギーが少なくすむ「地消地産」の考えは環境にも優しいですよね。
Another unique point of this supermarket is "The People's Kitchen".
Massive supermarkets are throwing so much foods away everyday.
Here, however, they have a lovely kitchen to use up what others normally just throw away!

このスーパーのもうひとつの特徴はキッチンがあること。
お店に並ぶ野菜やミルクなど、賞味期限が近くなったり売れ残ったものを調理して売っています。
ここを立ち上げたのはArther (アーサー）というシェフ。
彼のもつレストランでは野菜くずや食べ残しは全てコンポストに入れられ、
レストラン横の小さな畑で野菜やハーブなどが育てられています。
They are selling homemade jams which are in recycled jars.
They look more unique and have individual character!

お店に並んでいた桃はジャムに変身し、リサイクルされた瓶に詰められてました。
でっこみひっこみ、種類の違う瓶に容れられ、それぞれが違ってユニーク。
あ、赤い蓋がいいな、、とか、選ぶのも楽しい。
下の写真はバナナとイチゴ、ネクタリンのスムージー。
I bought a lunch box, £4.60, containing a quiche with mushroom and Pecorino cheese
and couscous salad.
And also a cold soup, £2.00, made with beetroot, blue cheese and thyme!!
They are sooooo tasty :P
It was worth to spend money and moreover it means supporting their shop and concept,
although I know I can get £3 meal deal in other supermarket.
You must visit if you go near Russell Square!!

この後、すぐそばで打合せがあったのでランチを買って公園で食べることに。
マッシュルームとペコリー二チーズのキッシュとクスクスサラダ 4.60ポンド。
ビートルート（赤い根菜）とブルーチーズ、タイムの冷たいスープ 2ポンド。
このスープは手に取るのを一瞬ためらうコンビネーションでしたが、絶品でした。
合わせて6.60ポンド（約840円）。
普通のスーパーではお昼用に、飲み物、サンドイッチ、ポテトチップスの組み合わせが
3ポンド（約380円）で売られているのでかなり割高ですが、
格段に美味しいだけでなくこのお店をサポートするという意味で払う価値は大有りです。
ロンドン在住のみなさん、Russell Square の側に行く機会があったら、
是非足を運んでみてください。
